Acoustic or Electric Guitar

When it comes to Guitars there are two major different types of guitars. The Acustic Guitar and the Electic Guitar. The first difference is how the sound is generated.

Acustic Guitars have a resonance box which is the so called body of the guitar. Depending on the size, shape and material the guitar’s sound will be different.

Electic Guitars don’t have the resonance box that accustic’s have. Instead they have microfones which picks up the vibrations and sound of the strings. Because of this you need an amplifier to get some serious sound out of an electic guitar. Normally an electic guitar has two or three microfones which is also called pickups. The quality of these pickups vary and makes a great impact on the quality of the sound.

Acustic and electric guitars have different feelings and they are often used for different kinds of music. You rarely see a heavy metal guitarist with an accustic for example. But very often a troubadour uses the acustic. So when choosing what kind of guitar you want to buy think of what kind of music you want to play.
